The Voice to Parliament – PUBLIC FORUM

The Voice to Parliament

Church of All Nations – 180 Palmerston Street,

Carlton Vic 3053

Thursday 25 May 2023 at 6:30pm

‘The referendum will be a rare opportunity for Australians to improve our nation’s standing in the world, and vastly improve the lives of Indigenous peoples, with a single act of reconciliation.’ – Thomas Mayo

Join us for an evening of conversation with Indigenous leader Thomas Mayo (formerly Mayor) and acclaimed journalist Kerry O’Brien because you want to better understand what a Voice to Parliament actually means. Together Mayo and O’Brien have written The Voice to Parliament Handbook: All the Detail You Need as a clear and simple guide for the millions of Australians who have expressed support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

Free, but bookings are essential. Please book here.

This event is supported by Church of All Nations, The Victorian Women’s Trust and Readings.

Moves at MtE

You may have seen the “For Sale” – not SOLD! – signs around our North Melbourne Property!

After more than a decade trying to balance project budgets for repairing our principal worship space – Union Memorial Church – we have been forced to conclude that it’s beyond our ability to restore and maintain our Curzon Street site, and continue our congregational life and community service through Hotham Mission. Sadly, we find that we must pass responsibility for the future of our property and its Victorian Heritage-listed buildings to someone else.

The congregation will continue its life of worship and witness, although we’re still working on a new location for this.

The work of Hotham Mission will also continue its work in North Melbourne and surrounding suburbs, again from a base yet to be identified.

UPDATE!

The final MtE service on the Curzon/Elm Street site will be Sunday July 16 at 10am — a special ‘back to’ celebration of the work done on the site over the last 150 or so years, with a luncheon to follow. From July 23, the congregation will move its 10am Sunday worship services and some other activities to The Centre for Theology and Ministry, 29 College Crescent, Parkville.
