Sunday Worship at MtE – 20 October 2024

There will be no MtE worship service for Sunday 20 October 2024 at the CTM; we will visit Church of All Nations for a combined service at 10.00am — 180 Palmerston Street, Carlton.

The service will be live streamed on the Church of All Nations Facebook page.

  • Theology Matters: How thinking About God Shapes Australia You are invited to join us for a panel discussion to launch a new book edited by Prof. Peter Sherlock and Dr Daniel Nellor, Theology Matters. Theology Matters presents a series of conversations with prominent Australians about how theological ideas and religious practices inform their contribution to public life. Through their stories, it asks the ultimate question: what difference does theology make? Participants in Theology Matters include Deborah Barker, Rufus Black, Frank Brennan, Libby Byrne, Julie Edwards, Dan Fleming, Stan Grant, Sean Lau, Anne Pattel-Gray, Tony Rinaudo, and Kevin Rudd. When: Wednesday 6th of November, 5:30pm – 7pm Where: 4th floor Wesley Place, 130 Lonsdale St, Melbourne.
  • Christian Monastic Wisdom Today
    Join us at the Contemplative Studies Centre, Melbourne University, for an enlightening conversation between our Director Robyn Whitaker and Cyprian Consiglio, a Camaldolese monk and recently appointed International Secretary General for Monastic Interreligious Dialogue. Cyprian’s work focusses on how Christian monastic traditions can inform and enrich contemporary contemplative practices and interfaith conversation.  Given the growing religious diversity in Australia, this exploration of spiritual traditions is particularly timely.  When: Wednesday the 13th of November, 5:30pm – 7pm, in the here: University of Melbourne’s Forum Theatre (153), Arts West – North Wing (148A)

  • Reconciliation & the Referendum: Where are we now?  (A Public Forum) Please join The Wesley Centre for a public forum to mark one year since the majority of Australians voted ‘no’ for an Indigenous Voice to Parliament. Hear from Aboriginal leaders, learn about colonialism and the media, and reflect theologically as we continue the work of Reconciliation together. 3.30 – 5.30pm, Sunday 13th October at Wesley Place, Melbourne. This is a ticketed event. You can get your tickets here – https://events.humanitix.com/reconciliation-where-are-we-now-marking-one-year-since-the-referendum. The forum will be followed by a 6pm service of prayer in Wesley Church.  All welcome.

Wesley Centre

MtE is a sponsor of the Wesly Centre

  • The Wesley Centre will be hosting an event on Sunday the 13th of October from 3:30pm – 5:30pm called ‘Reconciliation, Where are we now? Marking a year since the referendum’. The centre is seeking a few volunteers to help us for on the day. Tasks Include: Assisting with Pack Up/Pack Down, Assisting people getting in and out of the building, Setting up catering, Spot cleaning surfaces and rubbish throughout the event. Perks Include: Snack and drinks, Listening and being involved in what is looking to be a moving, informative and insightful panel discussion. We will be needing assistance from the hours of 2:45pm – 6pm located at Wesley Place. We would be incredibly appreciative of any time you may be able to donate towards this event and If you’re interested and would like further details, please email the Centre Coordinator Alice at the following email coordinator@thewesleycentre.org
