- Reconciliation & the Referendum: Where are we now? (A Public Forum) Please join The Wesley Centre for a public forum to mark one year since the majority of Australians voted ‘no’ for an Indigenous Voice to Parliament. Hear from Aboriginal leaders, learn about colonialism and the media, and reflect theologically as we continue the work of Reconciliation together. 3.30 – 5.30pm, Sunday 13th October at Wesley Place, Melbourne. This is a ticketed event. You can get your tickets here – https://events.humanitix.com/reconciliation-where-are-we-now-marking-one-year-since-the-referendum. The forum will be followed by a 6pm service of prayer in Wesley Church. All welcome.
- Theology Matters: How thinking About God Shapes Australia You are invited to join us for a panel discussion to launch a new book edited by Prof. Peter Sherlock and Dr Daniel Nellor, Theology Matters. Theology Matters presents a series of conversations with prominent Australians about how theological ideas and religious practices inform their contribution to public life. Through their stories, it asks the ultimate question: what difference does theology make? Participants in Theology Matters include Deborah Barker, Rufus Black, Frank Brennan, Libby Byrne, Julie Edwards, Dan Fleming, Stan Grant, Sean Lau, Anne Pattel-Gray, Tony Rinaudo, and Kevin Rudd. When: Wednesday 6th of November, 5:30pm – 7pm Where: 4th floor Wesley Place, 130 Lonsdale St, Melbourne.
